The Great Lakes are how big?

The Great Lakes in the United States contain roughly 22% of the world's fresh surface water (22,810 km3). It is hard to conceive how much water that is.
Write a program to calculate how deep it would be if all the water in the Great Lakes were spread evenly across the 48 contiguous U.S. states. You will need to do some Internet research to determine the area of that region.
